Message from the Dean's Office

On June 8, 2018, NYU President Andrew Hamilton announced that Dennis Di Lorenzo was stepping down as Dean of the NYU School of Professional Studies in order to attend to an urgent family matter that required his immediate and indefinite attention (please see announcement from President Andrew Hamilton and Provost Katherine Fleming). Dennis’ years at NYUSPS were marked by a distinct and purposeful focus on access, opportunity, and applied practice—values that we can all embrace as we move forward.

During this period of transition, Dr. Susan Greenbaum will serve as the Interim Dean of the School of Professional Studies. Dean Greenbaum is a long-time member of the NYU community and a seasoned administrator who has served in numerous leadership roles at the University over the past 30 years. Most recently, she was Interim Assistant Vice President/Executive Director of the NYU Wasserman Center for Career Development. As Interim Dean of NYUSPS, she will work closely with Dr. Billie Gastic, Associate Dean of the Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies and the Center for Applied Liberal Arts, to ensure continuity of all operations.

The University’s commitment to a smooth transition during this period, as well as its dedication to providing students with a world-class NYU education, unparalleled industry access, and comprehensive student services is unwavering. In addition, we will focus our energies on supporting our faculty members, staff, and administrators in the important work they do each and every day.

Dean Greenbaum looks forward to meeting with the entire NYUSPS community throughout the summer months and early in the Fall semester.

Sincerely,

Office of the Dean
